The interconnecting series of short plays will be performed throughout October, moving between sites in and around the Blackfriars Mile, offering theatregoers a unique experience outside of the typical theatrical confines. The plays are all inspired by real-life events set within their natural surroundings: Think immersive theatre meets Eastenders meets new writing.
Working with local businesses and residents, A Friend of a Friend Productions have collected stories and anecdotes from the local community within the diverse and vibrant Southwark neighbourhood. These locally inspired stories have been cultivated and transformed into short plays with the support of professional playwrights.
Playwrights commissioned to produce the new pieces for Another day include Ben Norton Davies, James Robert-Moore, Lucy Beacon and John Hamilton May, with dramaturg and director Patrick Maubert. True to A Friend of a Friend Productions’ mission to inspire and nurture new work, these playwrights are lending their experience and proven history of excellence towards mentoring writers from London South Bank University’s BA Creative Writing programme as part of Another day, introducing Aysha Scott and Claire Squire.
