Occupation of Imbibe building continues

January 7, 2014 by Juha Repo

In December local residents noticed that the former Imbibe pub, one of the buildings doomed to be lost under the Linden Homes proposal, has been occupied.

The current pub operation in the 18th century pub building closed down in October and it seems that the building was occupied quite soon after that.

We have unconfirmed information that the occupiers are still hoping to get the building listed even if Southwark Council planning committee granted a planning permission for the site, allowing Linden Homes to demolish both old buildings on the site.

We also understand that lawyers for the developers have already served the occupiers a notice to quit the site, but it stills seems to be occupied in the first week of January. Legal proceedings may delay the start of the building works on the site.

BARD is of course following this development.
