13/AP/0966 LAST MINUTE OBJECTIONS

Although the formal closing date for comments on this Planning Application (AP) was in June, Southwark planners are prepared to take account of any further points received even just a day or two before the Planning Committee considers the AP on 3 September.

If you haven’t done so already, please act now. There have been over forty separate objections so far and this has helped to make a difference (the developer has reduced the height of part of the proposed building by one storey and, more significantly, the Southwark planning department has recommended that the application is refused although on fairly limited specific grounds.

To make the process as easy as possible BARD has produced the following 4-point template. It’s ready to be cut and pasted into an email and amended if you wish. Please add your name and address and send it to david.cliff@southwark.gov.uk by 1 September. (The AP is to be discussed by Southwark’s Planning Committee on 3 September).

Ref Planning Application 13/AP/0966 Linden Homes

169-173 Blackfriars Road/ Pocock Street Old Garages

I/we wish to make the following comments about the proposed development:

· The buildings proposed for demolition are very important for the character and historical setting on this section of Blackfriars Road and should not be demolished but incorporated into the design of any new structure.

· It will impact on amenities in the local area such as open spaces, GP surgeries and maybe internet TV internet and mobile phone reception.

· The design, appearance, bulk, height and general sacle of the development isn’t appropriate for the local area

· There will be a loss of daylight/sunlight and overshadowing will affect nearby dwellings

This is the third development I have seen where Labour councillors vote unaninimously for an application with an overwhelming amount of local objection. Apparently there is ground for appeal where the is clearly a political bias
