First Community Demonstration a success

December 1, 2012 by Juha Repo

The first BARD community demonstration was great success on Saturday 1 December. At least 50 people attended the event organised by BARD. Petitions were signed, there was singing, speeches as well as cake and mulled wine. The event also gave the activists from the various grass roots movements to get to know each other. There were representatives from both local press and local councillors.

The demonstrations took place in the Helen Gladstone Garden, that has been developed and refurbished by funds raised by the local community. The Linden Homes proposal includes integrating this piece of land to the project, even if is not owned by Linden Homes but belongs to Southwark Council.

  1. I hope when you talk about responsible development you really mean responsible development. The most responsible type of development London can invest in right now is the very tall. Better to built upwards with slim, attractive towers than continue to reckless urban sprawl into greenbelt land we’ll never get back.
